Acute care (non-emergency)

GP consults. A registered GP, on your schedule.

Same-day video or async consults with a South African GP for everyday health concerns - coughs, colds, infections, prescriptions, sick notes and referrals.

Care in this area starts with a consult: a Lume doctor discusses your needs and, where clinically appropriate, prescribes. Scripts go to the pharmacy of your choice, or are delivered via our partner pharmacy and courier (at patient cost).

Areas of care

  • Coughs, colds & flu
  • UTIs & minor infections
  • Skin rashes & allergies
  • Repeat scripts & sick notes
  • General health questions
  • Referrals to specialists

Care options

  • Antibiotics (where indicated)

  • Repeat chronic scripts to your chemist of choice, or direct to you

These are examples of the routes your doctor may consider with you. Nothing is dispensed without a consult, and prescription treatment is only issued where your doctor finds it clinically appropriate.

FAQs

Common questions.

Can a GP really diagnose me over video?
For many everyday conditions, yes. Where a physical exam is essential, your GP will tell you and refer you appropriately.
Will you issue a sick note?
Yes - when clinically warranted. Sick notes are issued in line with professional guidance after a proper consult.
Can I claim from medical aid?
We provide an itemised invoice with your GP's practice number that most schemes accept for out-of-hospital benefits.
